PenneLoafer Mission: A neighborhood club, supported by a council and leaders, established to provide the membership with recreation and entertainment activities.
History:
The Village Of Pennecamp in The Villages was founded in 2010. It is ideally situated about halfway between Sumter Landing and Brownwood. In May of 2010, a group of the first residents of Pennecamp Drive met at a party and began discussing the type of things and activities that each of us would like to see in our neighborhood. After a few more parties (meetings) the PenneLoafer Club was formed. The name was voted on by all the existing residents at the time and was formally registered with The Villages Recreation Department. The third Thursday of every month in the Fish Hawk Recreation Center was selected as the official monthly social date for club gatherings and events. Membership in the PenneLoafer club was restricted to residents of Pennecamp Drive because there are 103 home sites on Pennecamp Drive with approximately 200 residents. Each standard room in the Rec Centers can accommodate approximately 130 people so membership had to be limited. The first Steering Committee Board was elected at the August 31st, 2010 meeting with up to four Members-at-Large positions created for future residents. Officers served until the end of 2011 after which annual elections were held. Our current PenneLoafer website https://penneloafers.com is the fourth generation of one developed during the first few months. It contains links for minutes of meetings as well as the current members of the Steering Committee, among many more useful facts and information.
